Computer/Online Classes

Online Drivers Education Course For Teens
Are you at least 15 years old and tired of asking others for a ride? If so, this is the class for you. This is an interactive, educational online Drivers Education course with videos, animated driving scenarios and sample test questions. Students will learn the rules of the road, major causes of traffic collisions, about freeway driving and much more. Students can take this class at home on their computer. Upon completion, students receive a DMV approved certificate of completion (0L237) this is required to receive a permit and drivers license. Once registered, download the instructions.

The Joy of Computers
Level 1 class: This course is an introduction to the computer. We will start from the bare bones basics, from learning the physical pieces of the computer, how to navigate, manage and customize the computer and learn the basics of word-processing (typing) and surfing the Internet. Everything will be explained in the simplest, least technical way and with analogy.

Basics of Internet Use     NEW
Level 2 class:  Learn the basics of using the internet, which includes: e-mail use, technical terms and hardware, netiquette, browsers, World Wide Web and getting an e-mail and instant message account. We will also touch on internet banking, chat and searches.  If you are interested in this course, it is highly recommended that students take the Joy of Computers course first.  Registration deadline is 5 days prior to course start date.

Introduction to Microsoft Word
Level 2 class: This class teaches the fundamentals of Microsoft Word, the current standard for word processing, text manipulation and formatting, the basics of page layout and an introduction to some of Word's most useful tools. These skills can be used for personal, as well as professional endeavors.

Beginning Excel
Level 2 class: This course will teach the fundamentals of Microsoft Excel, a spreadsheet program commonly used in the business environment. We will cover formatting text and spreadsheets, creating effective ledgers, schedules and graphs and using formulas for automatic calculating. These skills will be useful in both personal and professional endeavors. No prior experience with Excel required, however, basic computer literacy strongly encouraged or subject matter may be difficult to understand and follow. Intermediate Excel
This class will teach commonly used techniques and tools. Basic understanding of Excel is required. Go beyond the basic spread sheet and learn how to better design and use Excel as a powerful business tool.

Advanced Excel
Go beyond the basics of Excel. Learn to use the full potential of Excel. Topics to be covered are filters, database functions, high level formula building, pivot tables, importing and exporting data, template building and macro building. PC ONLY.
