Chico Community Band
Pick up your instrument, dust it off and get ready to play! There are no auditions for this band, just sign up and come on down to Tuesday night rehearsals. The Chico Community Band, a wind and percussion ensemble with approximately 40 participants, is open to musicians ranging from teens to seniors. Formed before World War II, the Band continues to practice a repertoire of marches, show tunes, and innovative pieces by current composers that it performs for local audiences. Performances include Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Veterans Day celebrations, as well as a Friday Night Concert in the Park, a spring and winter concert. Chico Community Band-Adult Beginning Band
Did you play an instrument years ago and want to start again? Have you always wanted to play an instrument, but never learned? Have you always dreamed of being able to play guitar? Let Lori Pine show you how! For over 30 years, Lori has helped many Chicoans learn to play guitar and develop a lifelong love of music. Now it’s your turn! You will learn how to read music, basic chords, fingering techniques, and strumming along with accompaniment for group singing. Master the beginner level class, then move up to the next level with our Advanced Beginning Class. Students must have their own acoustic guitar for class. World Dance Vocal Class
Learn to sing World Dance songs! The class instructor may use the internet to “connect live” to professional singers and musicians living outside the local area. World Dance music is often in odd time meters, e.g., 7/8, 9/8, etc. Music materials will be provided. Sunday morning class times are due to the large time difference between the USA and Europe.
