Kindermusik offers a wide variety of music classes for a range of ages. Look through the descriptions below and choose the class that best fits your child. All classes are monthly. There is a $60 supply fee per semester payable to the instructor at the first class which includes 2 CDs, 2 story books, home activity book and instrument.
In class, you will learn all of the songs, finger plays, and dances you need to enhance your experience with baby at home, but we’ll also provide you with that quiet time you need to connect with your baby. In the early years of a child’s life, the greatest window of opportunity is open for learning skills and abilities in all areas of development. Young toddlers have busy little brains and bodies and are full of energy! This class will help get your child moving and dancing while developing their fine motor skills with activities such as finger plays; gross motor skills like galloping, hopping and leaping; and essential life skills like turn-taking and self-control. Imagine That! Allows for your child’s creative imagination, abundant energy, and natural love of music. While your child sings, explores instruments, draws, participates in storytelling and pretend play, we’ll weave fundamental musical concepts throughout each activity; preparing your child for Kindergarten and Kindermusik for the Young Child class. Kindermusik for the Young Child
When your blossoming musician is in this class, they will develop skills in singing, focused listening, playing more sophisticated instruments, reading and writing music and learning about some of the world’s most beloved composers. Creative movement is still an essential part of this class combined with music fundamentals for a pressure-free environment preparing your child to enter more formal music instruction. Children learn to match pitch with their voice, play the glockenspiel (a pre-keyboard instrument), the 2-stringed dulcimer and a woodwind instrument-the recorder. Instructor: Carla Shryock. Chico Community Band
Pick up your instrument, dust it off and get ready to play! There are no auditions for this band, just sign up and come on down to Tuesday night rehearsals. The Chico Community Band, a wind and percussion ensemble with approximately 40 participants, is open to musicians ranging from teens to seniors. Formed before World War II, the Band continues to practice a repertoire of marches, show tunes, and innovative pieces by current composers that it performs for local audiences. Performances include Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Veterans Day celebrations, as well as a Friday Night Concert in the Park, a spring and winter concert. Chico Community Band-Adult Beginning Band
Did you play an instrument years ago and want to start again? Have you always wanted to play an instrument, but never learned? World Dance Vocal Class
Learn to sing World Dance songs! The class instructor may use the internet to “connect live” to professional singers and musicians living outside the local area. World Dance music is often in odd time meters, e.g., 7/8, 9/8, etc. Music materials will be provided. Sunday morning class times are due to the large time difference between the USA and Europe.
