Whether just beginning or wanting to improve your art skills, this class will cover the fundamentals with an emphasis on fun! Instruction includes painting and drawing in many mediums such as charcoal, watercolor pencils, tempera paints and collage. You will learn about perspective, mixing your own colors, contour drawing, shading, texture and composition. Develop your own creative style of art in a supportive atmosphere. Do you have friends that know how to knit or crochet and are always making cool things to wear? Well, now is your chance! You too can learn to knit or crochet. In Knitting for Beginners, you will learn the basics of knitting from "casting on" to making easy patterns with knit and purl stitches to "binding off." In Crochet for Beginners, you will learn how to work stitches, rows, rounds and easy patterns. In either class, you will complete a quick and easy beginner's project. Please bring a ball or skein of sport weight or thick cotton yarn in light bright colors, so your stitches will be easier to see. Learn how to create beautiful pieces of artwork using soft chalk pastels. You might think pastels are hard to work with, but this class will prove you wrong. Learn techniques like application, color mixing and finish details. By the end of class, you will be amazed at your progress. Ready to take it to the next level? This class is for students who have already taken basic drawing classes. Students will work in pencil, as well as pen and ink. The color wheel will be introduced and one class will be with colored pencils. Pens and colored pencils will be supplied, but you will need to bring all other supplies to the first class.
