Chico Community Band

Pick up your instrument, dust it off and get ready to play! There are no auditions for this band, just sign up and come on down to Tuesday night rehearsals. The Chico Community Band, a wind and percussion ensemble with approximately 40 participants, is open to musicians ranging from teens to seniors. Formed before World War II, the Band continues to practice a repertoire of marches, show tunes, and innovative pieces by current composers that it performs for local audiences. Performances include Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Veterans Day celebrations, as well as a Friday Night Concert in the Park and a winter concert. Guitar

The perfect instrument to make any gathering fun! From the beginning, this class will focus on basic chords and fingering techniques, how to read music, chords and strumming along with accompaniment for group singing. Students must have their own acoustic guitar for class. Instructor: Lori Pine. CARD Community Center, Room 3.  No Class 7/4.

"Acting Up"

Does your teen have a passion for acting and a desire to enhance their theatrical skills through an exciting and intensive program. This course will facilitate growth as an actor by helping them learn how to navigate the audtion process, deliver a convincing monologue, refine their craft as an actor, and write and produce their own television commercial. Each session will end with a performance at the Center for the Arts Theater. CA Regional Theater, 986 East Ave.

Vocal & Performance Workshop

This class is designed for High School students who love to sing and want to develop their singing and performance skills.  While in the class, students will explore difference singing styles and learn foundational technique that will allow them to develop a vocal sound of their own. Areas of learning will include but not be limited to:  vocal technique, foundational music theory and sight reading, ear training, performance etiquette and skills. Beginning Guitar Instruction

Have you always wanted to learn how to play the guitar? Beginning Guitar introduces the basic fundamentals of the guitar. Proper positioning, introductory right and left hand techniques as well as basic chord shapes/forms will be taught over the 4-week course. Students will be taught the basics guitar language of tablature to help with the learning process, but the emphasis in this course will be on "fun" as a priority. The goal of this course is to nurture and cultivate an interest in the pursuit of learning to play the guitar, while providing students with the tools to begin the process of self-expression through a relationship with a musical instrument. Instructor Sean Lehe. No class week of 10/17 or 11/21.
