North Valley Youth Orchestra            

Has your child wanted to be part of an orchestra and didn't know where to start? This class offers students ages 10 - 21 a beginning orchestra experience.  Students must have their own instrument and a minimum of 1 year of instruction on that instrument. Auditions are required prior to the first class to be sure the student is able to play at an appropriate level.  The orchestra is open to all strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion students. There is a $20 supply fee payable to the instructor at the first class meeting. Instructor: Cal Rainey, Conductor, Bidwell Jr. High 2376 North Ave. Room 501. No Class1/18, 2/15 and 3/15.

Beginning Drumming-  New

Have you always wanted to learn how to play the drums? Just imagine yourself a future rock star or jazz player! Now is the time to learn the basics of drumming. Learn how to hold the sticks, fundamental rudiments, proper and safe technique and some basic beats. There is a one time supply fee payable to the instructor at the first class meeting. The supply fee will provide drum sticks and a practice pad. Returning students are not required to pay the supply fee. Instructor: Alan Eady. PV Recreation Center, Room 1.

Chico Community Band

Pick up your instrument, dust it off and get ready to play! There are no auditions for this band, just sign up and come on down to Tuesday night rehearsals. The Chico Community Band, a wind and percussion ensemble with approximately 40 participants, is open to musicians ranging from teens to seniors. Formed before World War II, the Band continues to practice a repertoire of marches, show tunes and innovative pieces by current composers that it performs for local audiences. Performances include Memorial Day, 4th of July and Veterans Day celebrations, as well as a Friday Night Concert in the Park and a winter concert. Guitar

Have you always wanted to learn how to play the guitar? If so, then this class is perfect for you.  Class will focus on basic chords and fingering techniques, how to read music, chords and strumming along with accompaniment for group singing. Students must have their own acoustic guitar for class. Instructor: Lori Pine. CARD Community Center, Arts and Crafts Room.

Studio Miking and Recording Techniques (S.M.A.R.T)

Every aspiring musician and recording engineer will benefit from this class! You will learn modern audio recording techniques at a professional recording studio. Each session will offer a unique recording experience, along with exposure to a variety of musical genres. You are encouraged to bring your own tracks and/or talents for recording projects. Our facility utilizes a Pro Tools TDM system, however, many other analog and digital recording formats may be imported/exported based on compatibility. There is a $30 supply fee payable to Heirloom Studios at the class. Instructor: Scott Cory. Heirloom Studios, 275 Fairchild Avenue, Suite 101A. No Class 2/15 and 2/17.
