Habits of Health-NEW

Are you tired of Yo-Yo Dieting? Have you lost weight only to gain it back? If so this class is for you! Each class you will learn new tools to use daily to build the Habits of Health. You will learn how to change your mindset from a problem solving orientation to daily progress that leads you to Optimal Health. Each month there will be a new topic starting with, "starting where you are," how to get a "thin healthy mind." That will be followed by "steps to achieving Optimal Health", and "how to stay healthy for the rest of your life using the BeSlim philosophy." Instructor: Christiane Wear. CARD Community Center.

Self-Hypnosis-NEW

Would you like to learn how to physically relax and use your thoughts to help yourself? Self-hypnosis can assist you with setting goals, reducing stress, losing weight, and enhancing your wellbeing. It is a way to reach the subconscious part of the mind that dreams, retains emotions, and holds memories.  Each class includes 2 group hypnosis experiential sessions. Welcome to Medicare

Do you want to change your Part D plan? Did you know that you might be eligible for extra help paying for your prescriptions? If you have any questions about Medicare, you don't want to miss this meeting. The Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP) at Passages Adult Resource Center will present an information forum for those on Medicare or those who are interested in learning about the changes and benefits of the Medicare Part D prescription drug programs. AARP Mature Driving Classes

The AARP Driver Safety Program is the nation's first and largest classroom refresher course for drivers aged 50 and older. This class is offered by AARP each month. Completion certification is good for 3 years and provides insurance discounts to most companies. Payment is required at the time of registration and checks are payable to AARP. Bring your current AARP card to class and receive a $2.00 refund on your class registration. Lakeside Pavilion.

Short Story Writing- NEW

Are you a writer who is looking to further develop your craft? Maybe you have always dreamed of writing and didn't know where to start. We've got the write class for you! This class will combine wordsmiths of all experience levels, styles, and interests. In this class, we will focus on basic craft elements such as plot, setting, and dialog by dissecting a variety of published short stories and applying what we learn to our own writing.  Although we will focus on short stories, the skills we learn can be applied to writing of any length. The majority of this class will be taught in workshop format which involves students discussing what they have read and written in a polite and professional manner. Blogging and the Social Media for the Tech-Challenged-NEW

Are you wanting to dip your feet into the social media pool, but afraid to start? Are you actively blogging or facebooking, but wishing you knew what you were doing and why? Wherever you are along the spectrum of being tech-challenged, this course is for you. Published author, on-line addict, and self-professed computer-phobe Robyn Engel provides the tools and encouragement needed to build and maintain a strong on-line presence. Her blog, Life by Chocolate, has garnered nearly 600 followers and 90,000 page views. Moreover, she has fun along the way and wants to teach you to as well. CARD Community Center, Room 3.

Self Publishing Made Easy-NEW

In these ever-changing times, the publishing world has been turned upside down. For writers and authors wishing to publish (or publish again), opportunities are literally at our fingertips. Learn how you can contribute books to the literary world, with relative ease and at little or no cost. Self-published author Robyn Engel teaches the nuts and bolts of self-publishing; along with the myths and realities of "traditional" versus "self"- publishing. Fun and thought-provoking discussion will leave attendees primed for publication. CARD Community Center, Room 3.

Pickers 101

Legal Assistance                   

Passages and Legal Services of Northern California provide free legal assistance for seniors 60+. Appointments are held on the first and third Thursday of every month between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM at the Lakeside Pavilion. Call Passages to schedule an appointment at 898-5923.
