Echo-Fun Over 50

We are very excited to have a guide specifically designed for our "Fun Over 50" crowd. Grandmother's Club

The Grandmother's Club meets on the first Thursday of each month from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM.  This lively group is a social club and welcomes all interested grandmothers to join their monthly potluck luncheons and enjoy the companionship of long-time members. Raffles and bingo are just a few of the fun-filled activities.  April and May the club will meet at the CARD Community Center, beginning in June they will meet at the Lakeside Pavilion.

Point and Shoot Photography-New

If you have a digital point and shoot camera, you will have fun learning to use whatever functions your camera has to take increasingly better pictures of people and places you enjoy.  The class will be based on how your camera works for basic principles of photography, how to use your specific camera, and basic composition.  Your photos will never be the same!  Bring your camera, fully charged battery, memory card, manual, and lots of enthusiasm for learning.  Instructor: Dave Bermann, dave@mountainthymephoto.com. Basics of Digital Photography

Primarily aimed at digital SLR camera users and those with point and shoot cameras that offer a full range of exposure control, this class is about learning to use the functions of your camera and various lenses.  to take pictures of people and places with increased predictability and control well beyond mere snapshots, including how to shoot for panoramic and High Dynamic Range (HDR) images.  Bring your camera, manual, fully charged battery, memory card and lots of enthusiasm for learning.  Class will include a one hour lunch break.  Instructor: Dave Bermann, dave@mountainthymephoto.com. Beginning Photoshop Elements®

Learn to use Adobe Photoshop Elements to make your digital photos really stand out, starting from basic adjustments, then progressing to advance techniques for creative results.  Learn control of brightness, contrast, cropping, color management, artistic control, panoramic and High Dynamic Range (HDR) processing in this one broadly capable program.  Students are encouraged to bring a laptop computer (Mac or PC) with Photoshop Elements(R) pre-loaded, and up to 10 of your own photos to work on using newly learned techniques. Class will include a one hour lunch break.  Instructor:  Dave Bermann, dave@mountainthymephoto.com. Refunds and Transfers for Cooking Classes: Because perishable supplies are purchased for these courses, all cancellations and transfers MUST be received 48 hours prior to the class. If a cancellation or transfer is received after the deadline, we are only able to issue refunds if we are able to fill the spot. 


Cooking for You or Two

Everyone loves little bites of great food loaded with flavor so join us to experiment on some new recipes and new tastes. Let our guest chefs teach you how to prepare simple, tasty and economical meals for you or two. This is a hands on cooking class so come prepared to taste your creations. Basic Cheese Making

If you've made bread, beer or wine, or other fermented foods, cheese making is another step along the continuum. Cheese making is created through a very simple process anyone can follow. It's amazing that just one simple ingredient, milk, can turn into so many other wonderful delicacies. This hands on class will teach you every step to making Feta, Ricotta, Mozzarella and Cottage Cheese.  You will compare the methods that turn milk into each separate type of cheese.  By the end of the class, you will have felt, tasted, and smelled cheeses at all crucial steps, and you will know what to do when you get home.  You may sample each type while you are there, or take a sample home to share with your friends or family. Vegan Baking

Are you curious about vegan baking, but don't know where to start? In this one day class, you will learn the fundamentals of vegan baking, including egg and dairy substitutions that will make any recipe more healthy and compassionate. Instructor Sophia will prepare several recipes including zucchini bread, coconut lime cupcakes, and classic chocolate chip cookies, all using 100% plant-based ingredients. Eat Your Veggies!

Are you tired of your same old, go-to vegetable recipes? Do you want to eat more vegetables, but don't know how to get in your 5 servings per day? In this demonstration cooking class, you will learn innovative ways to prepare tasty vegetable recipes, including pumpkin soup, roasted root vegetables with rosemary, braised kale, and more! Basic Raw Food Preparation

Phytonutrients give fruits and vegetables their radiant colors and are important in the prevention of chronic diseases. Eating plenty of raw fruits and vegetables increases the vitamins and micronutrients in our diet. In this class, we will cover the basics of raw food preparation, including marinating, pickling, dehydrating, massaging, and spiralizing all sorts of nuts, seeds, fruits, and vegetables. We will prepare several recipes including watermelon gazpacho, sesame cole slaw, mock turkey burgers, and cashew cheesecake! There is a $10 supply fee payable to the instructor at the class. Gogi's Kitchen-Indian Cooking Made Easy

Learn mouthwatering snacks, breads, curries, vegetable, and meat recipes leading to the diversity of flavors and regional cuisines found in modern day India.
