| | Counselor-In-Training Educational Program
WHAT IS IT ALL ABOUT?
The CIT Program is designed to give young adults, ages 13-16, educational experience so they will have the knowledge and skills to succeed in the workplace. This program will also provide the CIT with valuable volunteer experience which may place on their resume when they are ready to apply for a paying job. More specifically, the CIT will learn how to plan and implement large and small group games and crafts, manage small groups of children, and learn basic techniques of behavior management. Because the CIT will be trained with the oversight of a CARD employee, they will learn in a one on one environment, be evaluated, and will be given the opportunity to grow and improve. The Counselor-In-Training Program is for the benefit of the trainee only. A CIT will be under close observation of a regular CARD employee.
IMPORTANT DATES AND INFORMATION!!!
A parent or guardian of the applicant must attend the parent information meeting on April 23th at 6:00 pm at the CARD Community Center. The applicant will not receive an interview if this meeting is not attended by the parent or guardian.
Group interviews will be held on May 2 from 4:00-5:30 pm at the CARD office.
The mandatory training is on Sunday, June 1 from 9:00 am– 4:00 pm. The training will be held at the Hooker Oak Recreation Area from 9:00am to 12:00pm and at the Pleasant Valley Recreation Center from 12:30pm to 4:00pm. Parent transportation is required between 12:00pm and 12:30pm. Lunch included.
A CIT is required to work a minimum of two weeks of camp during the summer. Summer camps begin June 9 and run through August 8.
The fee for the CIT program is $30 which includes training, a t-shirt, program manual and end of summer recognition party.
