| | Beginning Fencing This class will introduce boys and girls to the exciting sport of fencing. Fencing combines physical and mental conditioning and develops muscles, flexibility and hand-eye coordination. It is safe and fun! Students will learn basic footwork, attacks and defenses that will enable them to attain the entry level of competition. Students must wear t-shirts, sweat pants and tennis shoes. Fencing equipment provided for the first month only. This is an on-going class throughout the year. Intermediate/Advanced Fencing Students will learn intensive footwork, attacks and defenses that will enable them to attain the entry level of competition and continue to the tournament level. We have students who have already achieved success on the tournament circuit even winning the coveted gold medal! Students must have attended the beginner class or have prior experience, have full outfit and equipment and be a current USFA member. | | Beginning Youth Sword & Sheild Students will learn the theory and practice of modern sword and shield martial arts, emulating the fighting style of the medieval armored knight’s style of sword-and-shield combat. Beginning with historical context and slow movement instruction, the class will work its way up to full-speed sword-and-shield movement against a stationary target, and then to full-speed one-to-one and group scenarios. Students will develop skills in proper stance, footwork, balance, movement, range, attend and defense using equipment oriented toward safety and historical authenticity. In addition to training exercises, activities include both one-on-one and group combat in various scenarios. No sports or martial arts experience is necessary. [sign up - more details] | |
