K-9 Classic

Bring your furry friends to have a paws-itively great time at our dog-friendly K-9 Classic outdoor event! Show off your pup’s skills and/or cuteness and enter The Mutt Strut! The Chico Police Department will also be there with a very special Police K-9 Demonstration where you’ll see first-hand the awesome level of control, agility, and extensive training the Police K-9s have.

The Mutt Strut

Join us for The Mutt Strut, where your pup can showcase their skills and cuteness! Registration is from 10–10:45 AM. The "Best in Show" contest kicks off at 11 AM, featuring a dog costume parade where you can highlight the creativity and charm of your furry friends. Humans are welcome to join the fun by wearing costumes too! You can also test your pup's agility in our obstacle course. All dogs are invited to participate, with the chance to win prizes for categories such as Best Dressed, Biggest Pup Personality, Most Talented, Pet & Owner Look-Alike, and more.

New this year: Best in Show Photo Competition!

Register your pup for a photo contest and win our first inaugural “Best in Show” prize. Your photo will be posted on CARD's Facebook and the photo with the highest number of votes will win a special prize pack filled with exclusive CARD swag, gift cards, and pet goodies! Prizes will also be awarded to the most heartwarming moment captured involving a dog, the best action shot of a dog/the funniest dog photo. Registration for the photo contest is $10 and must be completed by Friday, May 3rd. Registration is a two-part process. After submitting your registration online, email your photo to info@chicorec.gov with the subject line: K9 CONTEST (first name, last name).

Best in Show Prize includes CARD swag, dog treats, a cute mug, doggie bags, dog toy, cozy blanket, $100 5th Street Steakhouse Gift Card. Other prizes inlcude: CARD swag, dog splash mat, dog toy and treats, $50 Hatchet House Gift Card and a $25 Sports LTD Gift Card.

Chico Police Department K-9 Demonstration

Don't miss the Chico Police Department's special Police K-9 Demonstration at 12 PM, showcasing the incredible control, agility, and extensive training of the Police K-9s.

 

Fun For Humans & Dogs Alike!

Dog lovers of all kinds are encouraged to attend and enjoy human activities as well. We'll have dog-themed crafts, music, food trucks, and activities for the kids, including bounce houses and face painting. Ride your bike and utilize our free bike valet by Chico Velo.
