About the After School Enrollment Priority List

Thank you for your interest in CARD's After School Programs.  If you are interested in enrolling your child into a program now or for a future date, please read the following information.  If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us at 895-4711.

How the After School Program Waiting List Works

How to enroll:

To add your child to the after school program waiting list, please visit  We will contact you once there is a spot open for your child.  Waiting list length at each school varies; however, CARD recommends you put your child on the waiting list when they are 2 years old to help ensure you will have a spot when they enter school.

Once you put your child on the waiting list, they stay on until they are offered a spot in the program.  Please make sure to contact us to update your email or phone number if they change.

Each program has a separate waiting list.  If you do not know which school your child will be attending at the time you add to our waiting list, it is best to add your child to your neighborhood school’s list or we can add you to multiple lists.  When you know the school your child will be attending, please contact us to update your need.

When a spot comes available:

When a spot comes available in the program, we will contact you via email or phone and you will be given a deadline to respond.  If we don’t hear back from you by the given deadline, you will be removed from the waiting list and we will contact the next family.

Your position on the waiting list:

  • Each program/school has a separate waiting list.
  • Your position is always based on the original date you added to the waiting list.
  • The waiting list is a fluid document.  Families often move schools and therefore move to a different program’s waiting list.  When calling to see where you are on the waiting list, please note that your position today may change by tomorrow.

Example 1:  You got on the Marigold waiting list on 7/21/2016 and yesterday you are 3rd on the list.  John Smith has been on Shasta’s waiting list but just moved to Marigold.  John Smith originally added to the waiting list on 6/1/2016 and is now in front of you on the Marigold list, bumping you to 4th on the list.

Example 2:  You were waiting to get into the program for the 18/19 school year and were 18th on the list.  Unfortunately, a spot never came open during the school year.  You will stay on the list for next year (19/20) but your position on the list will change.  This is because there are people who added to the waiting list before you did but don’t need care until next year.  When we told you that you are 18th on the list, that was for the 18/19 school year and we didn’t count the families above you on the list who are waiting for a future year.

Example 3: Your child was in kindergarten for the 18/19 school year and in April when you checked, you were 1st on the kinder waiting list.  A spot never opened for the 18/19 school year and you are hoping to enroll your child into the 1-5th grade program for the 19/20 school year.  All of the kindergarteners who didn’t get into the program for the 18/19 school year will now be moved to the 1-5th grade waiting list for the 19/20 school year.  Even though you were 1st on the kinder list, there are other families on the 1-5th grade list who added prior to the date that you added.  You are now no longer 1st on the waiting list.

Enrollment for the next school year:

At the end of each school year, families who are currently enrolled have priority to re-enroll for the following school year.  Once the re-enrollment deadline passes, we will know how many spots are available in each program for the following school year.

During June, July and August, we contact families on the waiting lists to fill open spots for the start of the school year.  We will continue to fill open spots during the year.
