I discovered Chinese brush painting in 1975, in an “Adult Education” class in Santa Clara just like the one I teach now. This art soon became my passion. I enrolled in the docent training program at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco, and studied Chinese painting with several well-known masters of the southern Chinese “Ling Nan” style in San Francisco. In 1978 I went to study in Taiwan, I continued my Chinese painting studies there in addition to learning Chinese language, culture, music and art history After returning to the US I went to work for Mr. Tsao at Far East Fine Arts. My work has been exhibited both in Taiwan and locally. I’ve been teaching for over a year in Paradise and more recently started a class at CARD here in Chico. If I had guessed how much fun it is to teach this wonderful art, I’d have started years ago.
