The best way to learn how to garden and landscape with native plants is to get out and do it. Free, hands-on workshops are held monthly at the Alice Hecker Native Plant Garden located on the grounds of the Chico Creek Nature Center in Bidwell Park. Learn about native garden plants, planting, pruning, irrigation, mulching, problem solving, creating habitat, designing and more. Workshops are held the second Saturday of each month, weather permitting. Each workshop includes a short walk-through of the garden to discuss current garden issues and chores, along with pertinent demonstrations. Afterward, participants are given the opportunity to put these skills into practice in the garden. Please bring your own favorite hand tools along with any gardening or design questions you might have about your own garden. This is an active, hands on workshop so please be prepared to get your hands dirty and work in the garden!
