CARD Unveils Groundbreaking Initiative at Valley’s Edge

January 29, 2024

The Chico Area Recreation & Park District (CARD) is pleased to announce its commitment to a groundbreaking initiative to create and operate public parks and recreational facilities within the Valley’s Edge development.

CARD is thrilled to be presented with the opportunity to secure over 480 acres within Valley's Edge for the creation of community, neighborhood, and regional parks. This extensive acreage can host a variety of public parks, open to all, including a remarkable 400-acre Regional Park akin to the cherished Upper Bidwell Park, aimed at preserving the area's natural beauty.

”Developing and operating parks and recreational programs is not just our mission, it's our passion,” said Annabel Grimm, CARD’s General Manager.

Recognized by the City of Chico in its General Plan as the primary provider of parks and recreation programs for residents, CARD stands poised to leverage its expertise in creating exceptional park spaces in the future.

CARD will hold a dedication ceremony with a short presentation announcing details of this initiative on Thursday, February 1st at 3:30 PM at the CARD Community Center at 545 Vallombrosa Avenue. Media is invited to attend.
