Swim Lesson Registration Process
Determine your child's swim level with our lesson leveling guide. Trained Aquatics staff will adjust your child's level as needed on the first day of lessons. It may be necessary to combine small classes.
Select the time and session(s) you would prefer. Please note: Certain levels are only offered at specific times. ALL group lessons are 30 minutes long and are located at the Pleasant Valley Pool.
Register for your lesson online or at the CARD Office. On-line Registration closes at 11:59 PM the Thursday prior to the start of lessons.

Learn to swim!
Parent/Tot (6-36 months w/Parent)
Looking for a unique opportunity to spend time with your little one? Our Parent/Tot class is designed to educate parents on water safety, basic swimming techniques and how to get your little one comfortable in the water; with an emphasis on instructional play. You may register for four 30 minute classes or drop in for a single class.
Basic Beginner Class (One Week Session)
If your child is frightened, intimidated and/or doesn't like putting their face under water, our caring instructors will work patiently to ensure he or she achieves a high level of comfort. This class is designed for first time swimmers to get comfortable, and familiarize themselves in and around the pool. Once your child feels comfortable in the water, our instructors will begin teaching basic water skills. (Suggested ages: 3-5 years)
Starfish: Pre-School Level One
This class allows children to explore and adjust to the water through instructional play. Our instructors will work with your child on basic water skills, which are the stepping stones to becoming a more confident swimmer. Recommended for children who are comfortable in the water. (Suggested ages: 3-5 years)
Turtle: Level One Intro to Water Skills
This class is designed to teach children basic, elementary aquatic skills. These skills are the stepping stones to becoming a more confident and successful swimmer. Recommended for children who are comfortable putting their face in the water. Level One emphasizes water enjoyment, active play and basic instruction. (Suggested ages: 5-6 years)
Guppy: Level Two Fundamental Aquatic Skills
This level marks the beginning of true locomotion skills. Students learn to float without support and recover to a vertical position. Students further develop simultaneous and alternating arm and leg actions on front and back that lay the foundation of further strokes. Prerequisite:Students should be able to enter the water independently and travel at least 5 yards. In addition, students should be able to glide on their front at least two body lengths without instructor assistance. (Suggested ages: 6-9 years)
Stingray: Level Three Stroke Development
Students will begin to learn freestyle and elementary backstroke. Additionally, students will be introduced to scissor and dolphin kicks, and build on the fundamentals of treading water. Prerequisite: Students should already feel comfortable stepping from the side into chest-deep water. They should also be able to float on their front and back for five seconds, push off and swim - using combined arm and leg actions on the front for 5 body lengths. (Suggested ages: 7-10 years)
Swordfish: Level Four Stroke improvement
In level four, students improve their skills and increase their endurance by swimming familiar strokes for greater distances. Students will be introduced to sidestroke, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly and the basics of turning at the wall. Prerequisite: Students should be able to jump confidently into deep water from the side of the pool, swim freestyle 15 yards, maintain position by treading or floating for 30 seconds, and swim elementary backstroke for 15 yards. (Suggested ages: 9-14 years)
CARD Sharks: Level Five Recreation Swim Team
The CARD Summer Recreational Swim Team has grown in popularity in each of its last five years. The goals of the program are to create a fun and healthy atmosphere where kids can experience what it's like to be a part of a swim team, and learn about competitive swimming. Swimmers will work on stroke technique, drills, starts, turns, conditioning and team ethics. Swimmers may also drop in if they are unable to commit to the entire session. Prerequisite: Participants must be able to swim 25-50 yards unassisted. Swim meets TBD. (Ages: 9-17 years)
Private Swim Lessons
Private lessons are for those looking to receive one-on-one instruction. These lessons are available for any age or swimming level. Private lessons are available at the posted times. Spots are filled from the private lesson wait lists on a first come/first served basis. (Suggested ages: 6 months-17 years).
