Indigo Park

The Chico Area Recreation & Park District (CARD) proudly announces the addition of Indigo Park to its esteemed list of neighborhood parks. Located within Meriam Park at the intersection of Springfield Drive and Concord Avenue, Indigo Park offers an array of recreational amenities for all to enjoy.

Indigo Park is thoughtfully designed to cater to the diverse interests of the community it serves. The park's features include walking trails, swings, a climbing structure, pickleball courts, and a dedicated space where furry companions can frolic in a specially designed dog park area.

Scott Schumann, Director of Parks and Facilities at CARD, was excited about this new addition to the district’s care.

“As we approach our 75th birthday, the addition of Indigo Park signifies another milestone in implementing CARD’s core mission to enrich the lives of Chico residents through accessible parks and recreation facilities,” said Schumann. “We are particularly grateful to the team at Gonzales Construction Organization for including such a thoughtful facility in the master plan for Meriam Park.”

Indigo Park was solely funded by Dan Gonzales of Gonzales Development Company with a contribution by local philanthropist and Sierra Nevada owner Ken Grossman.

“The park was named after my son’s beloved dog Indigo, a fiercely loyal blue heeler. Indigo Park is an integral part of my vision for Meriam Park,” said Gonzales. “It brings a variety of valuable outdoor amenities within walking distance to a diverse range of people coming from the nearby housing, a social food and beverage service hub, as well as a thriving business district. It would bring me the greatest sense of accomplishment to see it packed someday!”

CARD General Manager Annabel Grimm was especially thrilled to have another dog park on the South side of town.

“Indigo Park carries immense significance for the residents of our Southside neighborhoods,” said Grimm. “With its charming amenities and dedicated dog park, this park serves as a valuable resource for the newly developed community, offering a wonderful space for families, pet owners, and outdoor enthusiasts to come together and create memories and most importantly play.”
