A little rain won’t dampen our spirits, and kites rise highest against the wind! Chico Area Recreation and Park District (CARD) invites you to a rescheduled Kite Day, a fun and free community event to give families the opportunity to play outside. Join us Sunday, April 30th, between 12–4 p.m. at Community Park, located at 1900 Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway. Local radio station 92.7 BOB FM will be playing music throughout the afternoon alongside activities like face painting, bounce houses, activities from CARD, and more!

Our friends from the Gateway Science Museum will be teaching how winds are generated to fly a kite with a hands-on experiment about clouds. CARD will have information booths on youth and adult programming, special events planned for the year, and current park improvement projects. For a special treat, come sing “Chim Chim Cheree” with Mary Poppins and Bert, who will be taking photos, singing songs and flying kites from 1-3 p.m. for a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious time!

For hungry folks, popular Fork in the Road food trucks will be on hand with delicious food and drink available for purchase. We’re offering a free bike valet service, so ride your bike and don’t worry about parking!

Sponsors Members 1st Credit Union, Bird in Hand, Lamar Advertising, 92.7 BOB FM, and Golden Valley Bank help make Kite Day possible. CARD will have complimentary kites available for the first 100 kids and Bird in Hand will have complimentary commemorative buttons for all kite flyers. See you April 30th!
